Why You Should Attend That Church Conference in Person
If you’re anything like me, FOMO or fear of missing out is a real thing, and you simply can’t bear the thought of others experiencing something that is still spoken of for weeks after, while you were absent.
If you’re one of those who enjoy living in a bubble and prefer to sit back and watch That Church Conference while chilling on the sofa or from the “comfort” of your cubicle, here’s why I think you might be doing yourself an injustice and should consider attending the conference in person.
You connect with REAL people
Nothing beats getting to collaborate and connect with like-minded people who do what you do, and more importantly UNDERSTAND what you do, including the struggles you deal with. There is something comforting in knowing that you’re not the only one facing uncertainties and challenges on your journey. You get to interact with people who share the same joys and frustrations as you.
“This environment was very positive and encouraging, a great support system was established through this conference!” – Connie Jacob
You build relationships where you can learn and share your knowledge with one another. Great partnerships and friendships have been formed by attending That Church Conference.
“That Church Conference inspired me professionally, mentally, and most of all spiritually. I left with great ideas and a list of action items that I can immediately implement that will not only make me a better employee, but a better member of the church. What more could you ask for in a conference? THANK YOU for providing a place where church media folk can come together to learn from and inspire each other! #thesearemypeople” – Kelli Hogg
Access to the speakers
Not only are our speakers some of THE best speakers in the church world but they are also real people who have experienced the ups and downs of church communications just like you.
They are people who walk the talk and provide you with practical information you can start applying immediately. The knowledge they share has been put to the test in their own journeys. They don’t speak just from the mind but from the heart – from a place of real trial and error.
They are also intentional to make time to interact with you and answer any questions you may have. They genuinely care about you as a person and want to help you succeed. We provide ample time for you to interact with them right in in the room.
Unlike at home or work where there are constant interruptions and people who require your attention, the conference provides a platform for you to just listen and drink in deep without having to divide your attention. It creates the opportunity for you to engage and ask questions, and even gives you the ability to implement what you’re learning right then and there.
We provide lots of space for you to open up your laptop, with power at every seat and super fast wifi that actually works. Learn something new that you want to try out? Get right to it. There will be people at your table doing the same!
“There were so many great ideas that I’m having a hard time figuring out what to implement first.” – Eric Jourgensen
Free lunch & ample networking time
Every attendee is provided with a delicious lunch on both days and the opportunity to enjoy a meal with a close-knit community of likeminded individuals all working towards the same goal. This is going to be a real special time, not only enjoying great food, but for getting to know each other as well.
On Tuesday we’ll be serving three different kinds of tacos and enough queso for every attendee to go back for more. On Wednesday we’ll be serving mouth-watering southern bbq. It’s all free thanks to our wonderful sponsors Tithe.ly and Blackbaud.
If tacos and bbq aren’t your thing (who are you?!) then there’s a ton of restaurants all within walking distance of the venue, and we’ll give you plenty of time to go and enjoy them. The Buckhead neighborhood of Atlanta is home to some of the finest dining and entertainment in the world.
Get in-depth training
We work really hard to make That Church Conference the most practical teaching available in communications and marketing for the church. Every year we enjoy seeing attendees apply on Sunday what they learned on Tuesday and Wednesday.
When you attend in person you get the added experience of being able to collaborate with others in the room as well as the speakers. Ask questions, try stuff out and see if it works, get your hands dirty in a safe environment where everyone is in the same boat as you.
When you live stream you don’t get that experience. You also won’t experience the Intensive Facebook Ads Workshop with Richy Hirtle and Andrew Riis. Whether you’re a beginner or an advanced user, attendees will walk away with the knowledge and experience of how to run successful Facebook ads for their church. This bonus workshop is only available to attendees and worth the price of admission alone.
A refreshing experience
Nothing compares to a real-life, being in the moment, experience. Sure you can see and hear the conference while streaming but you won’t have that personal, tangible encounter with the people and God as you would if you were actually in attendance.
Although That Church Conference concentrates heavily on practical teaching and application (we don’t have a worship set or guest preachers), it is still centered on Jesus and the work of the church. You get to walk away with a new perspective and receive the spiritual boost you need to be inspired and motivated again.
On top of that you get a refreshing and renewing time away from the office to become reinvigorated and reminded again why you do what you do in the first place.
There’s also some pretty great swag. If free stuff is your thing.
Trust me, you really don’t want to miss out on attending That Church Conference this year. So show yourself some love and register right away to make sure you also get a piece of the action this time (we sell out every year).
